Canning Stock Route:

The Canning Stock Route is one of the most remote and isolated 4X4 tracks in the world, not a trip for the inexperienced; be well prepared with fuel, food, vehicle repair equipment and spare parts. Rainfall is erratic: you will never experience this route the same way twice, access is totally weather dependant.
·         Best travelled: April to September.
·         Start and finish points: Wiluna- Billiluna.
·         Total distance: 1619km
·         Approx time to cover: 3 days plus.
·         Longest distance between fuel supplies: Wiluna to Well 23 Fuel dump (707km).
·         Availability of other supplies: Wiluna, Kunawarritji Community, Billiluna (Mindibungu) Community, and Halls creek.
·         Rating: Hardcore
·         Permits required and contacts: All vehicles, private and commercial, are required to hold permits. Permission to pass through the lands of the Gregory Lakes and Balgo Hills Communities should be obtained from Aboriginal Affairs Planning Authority: ph (08) 9322 7044.
·         Other Information: No trailers or wide-track vehicles may be taken on the section between Wells 2 to 5, take the alternative route via Glenayle or Granite Peak stations- a fee applies. Availability of fresh water is also limited.
