From Roper Bar, set on the Roper Rive, the Gulf Odyssey takes you to some of the best barra fishing locations in the Top End.
This route finishes at Burketown, one of the best places in the world to see the Morning Glory- huge cloud formations that occur from late September to early November. The route is suitable for trailers.
· Best travelled: March to October.
· Start and Finish point: Roper Bar – Burketown.
· Total distance: 764km
· Approx time to cover: 2 to 3 days without side tours.
· Longest distance between fuel supplies: Borroloola to Hells Gate (306km).
· Availability of other supplies: Roper Bar, Cape Crawford, Hells Gate, Doomadgee Roadhouse, Burketown.
