2001 - 100 days around Oz

In June 2001, my lovely wife and I, set off on our first big 4wd outback experience. This trip would also be our honeymoon, as the first stop was Cape Tribulation, to tie the knot. After the formalities were over, we packed the trusty Paj and set off. Our trip turned out to be an absolute blast, with serious quality time together, just reassuring us, that we had chosen right (this time around - both divorcees). After Cape Trib, our trip continued north, through the Daintree and along the Bloomfield Track to Cooktown. From there, we cut inland...

2000 - Camerons Corner trip

After buying the 1996 NJ Pajero stock in 2000, I decided to test it out, with our first trip into the outback. Nothing too hard, Camerons Corner and back. So, after convincing my wonderful girlfriend (now wife), that camping was the way to go, she reluctantly agreed to join me on this trip. Wow, the sights out west are amazing. It is just a shame that most Australians head overseas and miss out what is in their own backyard. The trip went without hitch, the mighty Paj tackled the sand-dunes and claypans without hesitation. We were...

2000 - Aroud Tassie in 4 weeks

After getting back from our first outback trip, Tassie was chosen as our next major trip. We packed up the mighty Paj, drove from Sydney down to Melbourne and boarded the boat for the journey across the sea. We knew that we couldn't see all of Tassie in 4 weeks, but we just hoped to experience enough of it, to appreciate what is to offer. I think we easiily acheived our goals. From chasing Tassie Devils and Wombats on the east coast, the enjoying the best seafood I have ever tasted at Bicheno and Strahan, Tassie was...

2000 to 2001 - Small test trips

When we first bought the Pajero, may mates ribbed and knocked us for not buying a real 4wd. So I asked the, "what is a real 4wd". The Pajero is 4wd, isn't it ? To some, a real 4wd is a Landcruiser or Patrol, but why buy such a big vehicle if you don't need to. The Pajero fitted us perfectly and with no kids (yet), we didn't need the excess room of the larger 4wd vehicles. The Pajero was also a very simple vehicle to self-service and maintain, and easy to fault find. I had real...
