On the Labour Day long weekend we decided to pack the Pajero io and go somewhere different. We headed east to Cann River and turned south, into the Croajingolong National Park. The idea was to work our way along the coast through to Mallacoota. The roads we took were mostly good quality dirt roads and some more uneven tracks that were easily driven in high range 4WD. Only during one creek crossing did I feel the need to put the io into low range, and that was purely only a precaution as it looked at bit slippery on the other side... but it turned out quite ok. We camped the first night right near the beach at the Thurra River campground, on a secluded site in the bush with the sound of the ocean roaring less than 100 meters away. The second night we stayed at the Shipwreck Creek campground, lovely spot in the bush once again and only a short walk from the beach. Day 3 saw us drive the short distance to Mallacoota and then the long, boring drive home on the freeway. We had a great weekend, the scenery here is fantastic and some of the tracks we travelled, although easy by 4WD standards, were very interesting. The Pajero io did a fantastic job once again and we have ticked that box on our things-to-do-and-see list (which is getting longer, by the way...)
