Trip Around Oz
In September this year (2009) we made the decision to rent out the house for a year, distance educate the kids (11 & 14) and travel around Oz for a year. By mid-October we were on our way! We have a blog that might be of interest to some of you. It's http://murraysontour.blogspot.com
We added a camper tent to our off-road trailer to make life a little more comfortable, hitched it up to our Pajero and headed off. Sounds simple but....the preparations beforehand were unbelievable. The camping gear and 4WD were easy; we could have been packed and ready in a couple of days. What we hadn't really thought through were the other things - renting the house, disconnecting phone, electricity, gas, etc, organising distance education, moving furniture into a storage unit, cleaning, painting, working in between, etc, etc. Sounds like a whinge but it's not meant to be - just trying to make you all aware that if you decide to up and go, you have a helluva lot to organise before you can jump in the car and go. It's worth it though...
