Lake Ballard and Mount Elvire

Lake Ballard and Mount Elvire are situated east of Menzies. Lake Ballard is renowned for its 51 cast iron statues spread out over the salt lake and is easily accessed by normal car. Mount Elvire is further west of Lake Ballard and can be almost driven up but requires a sturdy 4wd with good clearance an low range. It has a great view over WA's largest salt lake-Lake Barlee.

Walpole

Hi there, A few places Id suggest is worth seeing are around Walpole WA. Both East and West of the town offer beach access to some really impressive beaches such as Conspicuous cliffs and other places like Hush Hush beach. The picture attached is driving out to Long Point East of Mandalay beach. All very impressive coastline and places I truely love in this country. There are also some rugged hikes one can do in the area but be careful to not spread dieback and also be cautious with other drivers along some of...

Stirling Ranges

I had a quick visit to the Stirling Ranges the other day. A place I am approaching almost 100 visits. I had a meeting not far away that day so decided to get a quick hike in before heading back to Perth. There a many peaks to climb and it is worth seeing it in Wild flower season which is quickly approaching. The Stirling ranges is special-not only for its peaks which climbers use for training, but also that it is one on the worlds bio diverse hotspots. Whilst you dont need a 4wdrive to get there I thought...

Carnarvon Ranges

An Excellent trip and a pity that after an hr of writing, it didnt come up when I pressed submit! Anyway, well worth doing and if you want to see untouched beautiful scenery, aborginal rock art which is rarely seen and abundant flora and forna well away from most tourist travellers. Even the drive in is nice, either way you go. This time I saw the range from the Granite Peak Station side passing through Well 5 on the Canning Stock Route. I have been up to Well 2 from further south which is a more rugged way in and also...

Near perth...in the hills.

I was by myself on a hike few days ago. i decide to take a detour back to the main drag so that i could get back to perth. After going up a very steep and slow incline where it finally levelled out I looked at the next part of the track which looked in very bad shape and even steeper. I got out, went up the hill and decided to be wise and turn around. A wise bloke told me that a 4wd is to get you there not get stuck. With no winch and some very deep washouts on...
