Quick tips and tricks

Having only had the new NS for a few months I thought I'd put down a couple of thoughts that have helped me already.

1/ Carry some spare double A batteries in the car, particularly if you are going for long drives, just in case the batteries die in the DVD headphones. Not a good place to be when your 2 yr old discovers that her sister still has sound and she do not.

2/ The semi circular ring by the passengers footwell is a nifty place to hold an LED torch.

3/ A detachable face UHF radio (mine is a GME) fits perfectly in the small compartment near the cup holders. The cup holder assembly simply pops out to allow a cable access hole to be drilled through the slot, and the remote head attached with double sided velcro. The centre console is surprisingly easy to remove which will allow access to the auxilary socket wiring to feed to the UHF main unit, which is simply mounted under the pasenger seat (Don't plan on drowning the pajero). The trickiest bit was removing the fidly piece of plastic under the glovebox to gain access to the main wire loom from the engine bay. A little prying and the retaining clips will pop out. (I was just a little nervous at first not wanting to break the new car). Even for a novus the installation should only be a couple of hours max.

4/ Straps, shackles, tiedowns, basic tools, toilet paper are always needed at a moments notice. Pitty the car is fully packed. That's where the rear door storage area is useful. Place your "need to get items in a hurry" there.

5/ If not using the 3rd row of seats, the rear storage well is perfect for all that recovery gear, air compressors, tools, blankets. Just remember, when fully packed it will be difficult to access.

6/ Working on a false floor for the rear of the Paj, which will still provide access to the storage well. Once I get this completed I'll post some dimensions and design considerations.
