Out of Borroloola
We attended Borroloola for their fishing comp., in the NP Pajero, towing an off road camper trailer with a tinnie on the top of the camper trailer. Fishing was disappointing at Borroloola so we headed out towards the coast and headed onto a cattle property run by local indigenous people. The owners were very friendly and helpful and invited us to stay on their place . His directions were as follows :
"Go back to the road, turn left and go about 10 clicks and you will see a red bucket in a tree. Turn left there and about 6 clicks in you will come to a stream . You can camp and fish there , but if I were you I would continue on about another 19 clicks throught the scrub and you will come to a river. You can camp and fish there ans some of my relations are down there too.
Well off we went ..... found the track and the first stream and decided to push through that . The track past there was largely disguised by long grass and in some places non-existent but when we reached the River, it was well worth it.
Plenty of bait fish, and every cast was a hit...... the challenge was to land them.
Fishing there was a dream ......., although the crocs at night were very evident with many eyes showing up in the rays of the torch
The Pajero performed excellently, while the Hilux behind us needed repairs.
