Fraser Island
My lovely wife and I decided to load up the trusty Hilux and head to Fraser Island for the week with our then two year old Emily. We stopped at Australia Zoo on the way up and after an overnight stay at Gympie continued on to Rainbow Beach and the Ferry.
Having never driven on sand, I was possibly a tad over enthusiastic with the throttle in order not to get bogged. So when I left the barge it was like a Grand Prix start and as we hit the sand and wheel tracks I almost put all three of us through the roof. Thankful for seatbelts, I adjusted to the conditions and found the driving not as challenging as I had thought it would be. A casual meander up the beach scanning the ocean every two seconds to check it wasn't coming to snatch my Hilux out to sea, found our accomodation at Eurong Beach Resort. The rest of the week flew by and I can't reccommend the Island enough. Just loved it.
