Next stop was Port Lincoln on the tip of the Eyre Peninsula of South Australia. Port Lincoln is famous for its bluefin tuna and home to a substantial fisheries industry. The trainer for three-time Melbourne Cup winner Makybe Diva comes from Port Lincoln and there is a bronze statue of Makybe on the park on the town's foreshore. Port Lincolner's must be good punters because apparently there are more millionaires per capita in Port Lincoln's postcode than any other postcode in Australia. Lauren has a mate called Steve who has lived in Port Lincoln for 18...

More than 20 years after leaving the small seaside town of Streaky Bay as an eight year old, my wife and I headed over the other side of the Eyre Peninsula to visit. It hasn’t changed too much other than generally being tidied up – it could win a tidy town award if they still run them. After a year of work it was an ideal place to unwind. We went via Port Lincoln where we stayed for a few days (see my other stories on these destinations), and broke up the drive a bit by looking at some of...

For varying reasons, what we thought would be a 12 month trip has finished up a little shorter. We have had 10 wonderful months of roaming with not too many cares & woes. It has been great but is fast nearing an end and, as we work our way back through SA and into Victoria on our way home, we reflect on what has been a wonderful experience. We have – Marvelled at landscapes which are flat, treeless, gorges and yet more gorges, termite mounds, Australian Grass...

In September 2008, we did a 3 week camping trip with our Pajero towing an off-road trailer. We travelled with another family in their Prado - Michelle, Rob & their 3 kids Jackson, Cassidy & Boadie. This was their first big trip, although they had a lot of experience camping in caravan parks up and down the NSW South & North Coasts over the years. Thanks to Michelle for some of the attached photos. We travelled from Wollongong to Ivanhoe, Menindee, Broken Hill, Tibooburra, Cameron Corner, Strzelecki Track to Arkaroola, Wilpena, Burra, Morgan, Old Coach Road to Renmark,...

Vivianne and I had both been working long hours and we reached the stage where we needed to take a break. As the South West is only about 4 hours away from Perth it seemed the logical place to relax. Albany usually does the trick for us but on hearing the whales were around Breamer Bay we decided to travel that extra couple of hours. We camped in Breamer itself and travelled to the beaches each day. We were spoiled as Point Anne turned on the sceinery, whales, schools of salmon and one of the locals stopped to see what...
