Until 2009 I used to fish mainly with live bait, but after meeting a fellow travellor, who introduced me to lure fishing, I am now an avid lure fisherman and will not go back to fishing with bait unless I am outy to sea in deep water over reefs. I have so far caught approximately 30 barra at the Daly River in 2009 and am looking forward to many more areas in Australia where my 3.5 mtr tinnie and I can fish with lures.

Lord Howe Island   Even though it’s probably not somewhere you can drive to (need a Triton that floats) the boys from Hook, Line and Sinker recently made the journey to one of the most spectacular lumps of rock on the east coast – Lord Howe Island.   Getting to Lord Howe Island is relatively easy. There’s one flight in and out of the Island from Sydney each day, it leaves the Big Smoke just after lunch, so there’s no need for any early morning red eye horror plane rides.   Situated 400 miles north east of Sydney (straight off...

Stayed out of town near an industrial area. The park was dodgy however the people were great, We had our first happy hour...

We flew into Melbourne from our home of Tassie and thanks to plane delays didn’t arrive until almost 8pm. We were due to leave the picturesque harbour of Bermagui at 6.30 the next morning, so it was obvious we weren’t going to get much sleep!   At just after 4.00am we...

The system was chock full of Salmon and tailor and while we were casting of the shore and pulling fish upwards of 50 cm ,many boaters tried their luck trolling with limmited success. The evenings were spent catching bream and horse EP's , of the  fish we kept , all had a layer of fat around its gut. The first shooting trip for our new 2010 series was a bit of an unknown. Organised by the boys from Wilson Fishing, we were to turn up in Brisbane on one February morning, pick up our Mitsubishi Challenger and then follow our so called guides to a secret river for a spot of Murray Cod fishing. Murray Cod are a funny fish but they rarely make you laugh. We’ve tried a few times in the past to film Australia’s premier native freshwater sportsfish – most times they turn out to be very long days indeed. Like all native fish in...

Gunyah Beach is a great surf fishing beach. There is a 4WD only track to get to the beach. When we ventured down there there was only one other car on the beach with a couple of blokes fishing. I know the saying about Queensland is a bit of a cliche "beautiful one day, perfect the next" but that has certainly been true this week at the Mitsubishi Rainbow Beach Family Fishing Classic. 26 degree temperatures and perfect fishing conditions have made this week's tournament a resounding success so far.      The great fishing has certainly continued over the last few days with some great catches being brought in.  The highlight for me so far has to be the 13kg Red Emperor from a bloke from Mackay...what a fish!!      Last night...

I have been fortunate enough to be at Rainbow Beach, about two hours north of Brisbane for the 14th annual Mitsubishi Rainbow Beach Family Fishing Classic. This year's event has attracted record numbers with over 1,000 people competing or just enjoying a family fishing holiday.      Whilst the event is a very relaxed and social tournament, the serious fisherman have been taking their 4WD's along the beach or jumping in their boat to try their luck along one of Australia's most picturesque coastlines!      As you can see with the attached pictures, a number of them have...

A few weeks ago a friend and I embarked on an adventure packed trip up North. As far as WA goes, i had never been North of Lancelin and decided it was time to explore a little more of my home state. Unfortunately we were restricted to only ten days but optimistically set off from Perth on a cold Monday morning, adamant we were going to experience a taste of what our north has to offer. Our first night was spent in Kalbarri, what a great little town, the inlet and views from red bluff really are worth taking...
