An Excellent trip and a pity that after and gr of writing, it didnt come up when I pressed submit! Anyway, well worth doing of you want to see untouched beautiful scenery, aborginal rock art which is rarely seen and abundant flora and forna well away from many torist travellers. High clearance vehicle recommended with 4wd a bonus. Also i would allow at least 3 days there...we spent 6 nights and I will go back again. Thanks Mark Sheen

Seems Mitsubishi Australia hid a problem with it's Pajeros. They have a soft crankshaft bolt, that stretches, resulting in pulley failure. Mine failed luckily at low speed and I lost my steering on a bend and collided with some trees. Ivé since repaired the car a few thousand dollars later, but since I can't trust it for much more than city work, Ive replaced it with a Toyota. Google SR-01-002 for information on this under engineered component and what you need to do. Good luck. I did love that car

Lord Howe Island Even though it’s probably not somewhere you can drive to (need a Triton that floats) the boys from Hook, Line and Sinker recently made the journey to one of the most spectacular lumps of rock on the east coast – Lord Howe Island. Getting to Lord Howe Island is relatively easy. There’s one flight in and out of the Island from Sydney each day, it leaves the Big Smoke just after lunch, so there’s no need for any early morning red eye horror plane rides. Situated 400 miles north east of Sydney (straight off...

Murray Cod are a funny fish but they rarely make you laugh. We’ve tried a few times in the past to film Australia’s premier native freshwater sportsfish – most times they turn out to be very long days indeed. Like all native fish in...

Island beach run without the expense of barge fees. Bridge access to island, pick up beach permit from Bongaree Caravan Park & off you go. There's a couple of minor water crossings on the beach- watch them after heavy rain though as these can become deep and catch you off guard. War ruins at the northern end (don't forget the insect repellant) & inland track back to Welsby (closed during periods of heavy rain).

The local towns are great to look around, all having been some part of history. The Innes national park was spectacular, high cliffs, great surf beaches.. Would recommend the lower Yorke Peninsula for that quiet getaway.....Keith and Cheryl

The day started with meeting up with some local & interstate friends & their families, who were brave enough to camp at the Cotter Campground, near the Cotter Dam bridge. The overnight temperature dropped to around 2 degrees & the morning temperature wasn’t much better. We stood around the campfire & drinking coffee, waiting for everyone to arrive. The vehicle total before we headed off was 12 Tritons, 1 Pajero & a Hilux. Around 9.30am, we headed along Brindabella Road into the Namadgi National Park, over Flea Creek Crossing, which about 2 foot deep, then we turned right onto Two Sticks...

Monday. Day 3. We’ve kicked off our 4WD trip with a day on a storm-swept beach. So what can the elements throw at us now? Quite a lot, it turns out. By Monday morning the storm is hammering the whole NSW coast and the forecast is rain followed by more rain. The plan had been another day on the beach, but that’s out. So we’re heading inland to our next destination, the Barrington Tops. People rave about this beautiful, World Heritage-listed area only 320km from Sydney, but we’ve never been there. We let the satnav take over today. It’s easy...

Back in 91' my cousin Al & his wife Joy joined my wife Sue & our 3 children Sarah Jess & Paul on a 4WDrive track known as the "Omeo Coach Road" it was in Ron & Viv Moons book "Bush Tracks of Victoria, (1st edition). It was a great track & I've been meaning to do it again for years, Al & I decided the time had come & started planning our weekend this turned into many hours of research as we couldn't find any reference to "The Omeo Coach Road" locals from Swifts Creek hadn't herd of it Maps...

Had a great trip down, left Brisbane late on 17th April 2009 and drove allnight to Narabri. Was nice travelling at night, less traffic as we are rather slow. Stayed Narrabri a couple of days to checkout the aviation fly in, which to our disappointment was a non event. Had a nice uneventfull journey through Gilgandra, Wicannia. Stayed a night at Cobar , then through to Broken Hill.Visited Silverton, just north of Broken Hill. One more days trip to Adelaide from here, and we intend to stay here for 6 months , then head west.
