I had a fantastic Labour long weekend in Victoria (I’m from Sydney) with one of my best friends Peta. We went down there for our friend Lauren’s wedding.    Peta and I took the day off and flew down to Melbourne on Friday lunch time. When we got there we took a cab to pick-up our Mitsubishi Outlander for the weekend. I work with Mitsubishi so they very kindly let me borrow an Outlander for the trip. The guys at Penfolds Mitsubishi were fantastic (thanks guys!).    Peta and I were so excited and impressed with having such a...

I know the saying about Queensland is a bit of a cliche "beautiful one day, perfect the next" but that has certainly been true this week at the Mitsubishi Rainbow Beach Family Fishing Classic. 26 degree temperatures and perfect fishing conditions have made this week's tournament a resounding success so far.      The great fishing has certainly continued over the last few days with some great catches being brought in.  The highlight for me so far has to be the 13kg Red Emperor from a bloke from Mackay...what a fish!!      Last night...

Busselton to Apollo Bay   Our last night in Busselton, Geoff and Ann arrived, a great surprise, so that evening was spent sampling some fine ales, some finer wines, good food and great conversation. Saturday morning we had breakfast with them and then said our good byes, really great catching up with them.   From Busselton we drove to Walpole, unfortunately the weather was against us, heavy rain and a bit of wind made conditions uncomfortable, so unfortunately we missed seeing some of the bigger trees of the south west.   We arrived at Walpole, coalmine beach caravan park, managed...

Coral Bay, south   Friday saw us leave Coral Bay for Carnarvan, a big thank you to Kelly and Jeff for their great hospitality.   Entering Carnarvan we saw the first of many orchards, bananas, mango’s, vege gardens to name but a few, lovely lush and green. The caravan park seemed to cater well to the older set, still very comfortable, and still long walk to brush your teeth.   Once settled in, we ventured into Carnarvan township, very extensive, and we duly topped up our larder. We walked the one mile jetty, which unfortunately had a fire a few...

We spent a few weeks in Canberra working on vineyards to get the cash up again. It is a great city, but its cold, a couple of times the Paj had a layer of ice covering the bonnet. It's a place id well recommend checking out though, seeing the national Museum and War Memorial makes the trip worthwhile in itself. We were fortunate enough to stumble accross EPIC (Exhibition Park In Canberra), its a fancy name for the showgrounds but for only 10 bucks a night with ablutions it was a bargain, definitely check it out if you plan on...
