Wilsons Promontory

Wilsons Promontory

Known to most Victorians as ‘The Prom’, Wilsons Promontory is one of Australia’s most beautiful national parks. It consists of 130km of coastline, sprawling across granite headlands, mountains and luscious fern tree gullies. It is a camper’s paradise, with numerous well placed camping sites that are all but over run in peak periods, and breathtaking coastal hikes that vary in degree of difficulty; ‘Wilson’s Prom’ makes for a must see destination for all lovers of the great Outdoors.

One of the biggest draw cards to the area is the sometimes ferocious Tidal River, lying 30km inside the park boundary; it is certainly worth a look. Apart from this, in terms of things to do, there is: a lovely scenic drive between Yanakie and Tidal River, the exquisite sandy beaches of Norman Bay – a delight for children and even safe for a swim, a walk along Squeaky Beach with its pure white sand, and the breathtaking view from Mount Oberan for a simply stunning panoramic. All of this combines to make the Prom a unique and thoroughly diverse package.

From diving, to swimming, to camping, to hiking, to driving, Wilsons Promontory certainly caters to the whole family. With over 11 campsites to choose from, you are sure to find a spot to enjoy with friends and or family. Just make sure before you travel you enquire as to all permitting you will require, as numerous hikes and destinations in the region will require these of you.
