Margaret River
Just over 3 hours drive from Perth, Margaret River is a food and wine lovers paradise. The breathtaking region boasts some of Australia’s, if not the worlds, greatest wineries (over 60 in total). Getting down to the raw facts, this area actually produces 15% of Australia’s premium wine! With spectacular scenery also a draw card for any lover of the great outdoors.
From a culinary front, you will find some of Australia’s best chefs residing here. You can source numerous local delicacies, from beautiful cheeses, jam, condiments, olives, right up to delectable fresh water crayfish. Or if a more refined way of life is your thing, just make a reservation at one of the various winery restaurants, you’re sure to find one that will tickle your fancy!
If you want to enjoy a more active escape, fear not, again the Margaret River can deliver. With an inspiringly rugged coastline, networks of underground caves, luscious forests and breathtaking coastal walks, the more adventurous will have their palates salivating as well.
All of this coupled with the numerous arts and crafts outlets scattered throughout the area, will make the Margaret River a great place for both a family or couples escape!
